The fascinating Château de Commarque is situated in the valley of the river Beune between Sarlat and Les Eyzies. Dating from the 12th century, Commarque comprised a fortified village and chateau.
The castle was ruined during the Wars of Religion. The ruins can visited and offer a fantastic view of life in the medieval times. The extraordinary village includes fascinating knights towers and houses carved into the rock. Below Commarque castle there are some troglodyte caves in the rocks.
