A village is located between Sarlat (Dordogne) and Gourdon (Lot). By bike you can cycle nearby via the cyclable piste to, for example, Sarlat (the cultural capital of the Dordogne) or even to Souillac. Or explore the Dordogne River by canoe. The gite is surrounded by woods. Anyone who gets up early has a chance of encountering deer. In the nearby medieval town of Sarlat you will find dozens of restaurants, and in high season the many terraces are pleasantly busy. There is a large market twice a week. In the summer there is street theater every day and evening. Cahors is known for its excellent wines and there are several caves where you can taste and buy these wines. You can also buy delicious homemade goat cheeses (Cabécou) from farms. The beautiful castles of Beynac, Castelnaud and Montfort and medieval castle villages such as Domme, which is known for its view over the Dordogne valley, are world famous.
Activities
The gite is only a short distance from the Dordogne river, where you can enjoy swimming and canoeing. In the high season there are various summer parties and festivals. There is a market almost every day of the week in one of the many old towns in the area. A visit to the caves of Lascaux or Padirac is a must and the pilgrimage town of Rocamadour is also very worthwhile. Birds of prey shows are also held there and there is a monkey park. Several prehistoric open-air museums are also located nearby. And hot air balloon rides and sightseeing flights can be made nearby.
