Surrounded by fields and farm animals and with a swimming pool, the cottage is ideal for holidays with family or friends, far from noise and pollution. Each self catering cottage has an open outlook, an enclosed garden and a secured and private swimming pool.
Description
Ground floor: This original 18th century pigeonnier, now with all modern conveniences, offers a traditional style périgordine house. The entrance, which is under the covered terrace, opens on to the really well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washingmachine, microwave, hob, built in oven, fridge-freezer, a food processor, coffee machine, kettle, toaster …
This is a very bright room thanks to the two windows which open onto the garden and the swimming pool. An ancient door opens onto the dining room.
In the dining room is a large family table with benches, an antique cupboard, a desk, a low cupboard and a small bookcase with information about the area and a CD player. A large window opens onto the fields. The lounge, beyond the dining room, is furnished with two sofas (not sofa beds) and a sofa table, a bookcase with some books and DVDs, a TV with a DVD player and satellite for English channels, a desk with high speed internet access and a log-burner with glazed door to appreciate the fire during the long winter evenings.
Also on the ground floor is a large bathroom with a bath and two basins.
First floor: Le Pigeonnier is special because the first floor is divided into two parts to allow two families to be separate. From the kitchen, a staircase leads to a small mezzanine with a single bed and a single sofa bed. Between the two are a bedside table and a small bookcase with books and comics. This mezzanine is beside the yellow bedroom which has a double bed, two bedside tables and a built in cupboard with both shelves and hanging rail.
From the dining room, up a second staircase, you reach a landing which opens on to the green bedroom with its double bed, two bedside tables, chest of drawers and imposing country style tall-boy. There is an old mirror on the landing surrounded by the original bare stone, above an ancient basin hewn out of stone as well. The other door on this landing is to a shower room with toilet, shower and washbasin.
Second floor: The staircase leads up to the children’s bedroom in the part which was formerly the pigeon loft. We have kept the ancient roof with the old oak beams as well as the old pigeon roosting boxes and the stone with the 6 holes where the birds went in and out (it is glazed now). This yellow bedroom has 3 single beds, 2 bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a hanging cupboard with shelves.
Open all year round for short breaks, by the week or even for a month or more out of season. Le Pigeonnier is equipped with central heating and an open fire – the wood comes from the farm.
Outside
The garden is about 1000m² and fenced. There is a children’s swing, a ping-pong table in the garage that you can put outside in the sun if you prefer, a green space with a covered terrace for the sun-loungers and a private fenced swimming pool (8m x 4m). The barbecue is not far from the second covered terrace which is next to the house.
Lauzanac is a small hamlet with 3 houses (2 self catering cottages and the owner’s house) and a farm situated in the middle of a hill and close to the river Dropt and at 3 km far from the medieval village of Eymet. Lovers of old stones, nature watchers, gourmets, you will find yourselves at the heart of a favoured territory, welcoming and seductive, which retains the visitor by proposing a multitude of possibilities for organising a natural holiday. Eymet today constitutes the economic hub of the region, offering all the services and facilities of a small town. However, in this French Bastide founded in 1270 at the southern gateway to the Périgord, you will also find a combination of conviviality and easy living, at the nonchalant rhythm of the river Dropt or in the shade of the noble dungeon.
Activities
Close to the cottages, an artificial lake (Lac de l'Escourroux) with a 7 km path around the lake. La Sauvetat du Dropt at 2 km. Footpaths in the countryside. Golf de Boissec: Rustic golf, ideal for families at 3 km. Canoeing on the river Dropt. Motorcycle rides.
