The gite Les Girolles accommodates up to 6 persons and is located on the small domaine Lagrenie at a dead end road, in a very beautiful and quiet rural area with many forests, directly above the Dordogne River, near the village Groléjac. The large pool (6 x12 m) is only being shared with the renters of one other gite.

Upstairs is a sitting room with a wooden floor, a wood burner, a dining area, a kitchen (including dishwasher), satellite TV (Freeview and Dutch channels) and a DVD player and a toilet with a washbasin and a shower. Double doors give access to a small private patio (partially covered), with garden furniture and a barbecue and a garden with a fireplace.
On the ground floor are three bedrooms. A bedroom with a double bed with two doors opening onto a small garden surrounded by ancient walls. Two bedrooms with each two single beds, a bathroom with washbasin, bath and toilet. Amenities include: washing machine, dryer, iron, dishwasher, cot, high chair and bedding.
Outside
In the large garden, you have your private area with wooden garden furniture, a fireplace and a barbecue. The pool, with umbrellas and sunbeds, measures 12 by 6 meters and is being shared with another gite (8 persons). For the children there is a playing area with swings, table tennis and a trampoline. From the house you can make beautiful walks and cycling tours. There are many opportunities for canoeing on the Dordogne River.
The home is situated on a hill at the end of a dead-end street, surrounded by woods and overlooking the Dordogne river. Early risers may encounter deer. The nearby medieval town of Sarlat offers dozens of restaurants and during the peak season it is pretty busy on the many terraces. A market twice a week (the Saturday market is a must!) and during the summer street theatre every evening. Cahors is known for its fine wines and various wine cellars where you can taste and buy. You can visit farms, where you can buy homemade goat cheese (Cabécou). World famous are the magnificent castles of Beynac, Montfort and Castelnaud and medieval fortress towns (bastides) such as Domme, known for its stunning views over the Dordogne valley.
Activities
The cottage is very close to the Dordogne river, where you can swim and canoe. During the high season there are various summer events and festivals. There is a market almost every day in one of the many old towns and villages in the vicinity. A visit to the caves of Lascaux or Padirac is a must and the pilgrim town of Rocamadour is very worthwhile visiting. There is also a birds of prey show and a monkey park. Several prehistoric open-air museums are also nearby.
