Description
Maison Montruf is a very luxurious holiday home and is fully equipped to a very high standard and is now exclusively for rent for a limited period in the summer. The house is located at the end of a short lane and the automatic gates give access to the property which is private and secured.
The kitchen (40 m2) is fully equipped including a cook island with modern German appliances (induction hob, indoor grill, large oven and microwave) that allows you to turn the great local produce into fantastic meals. The built-in dishwasher then makes cleaning up easy. The kitchen patio is planted with a wide selection of fresh herbs for your use and we will provide you with some pantry supplies. The Delonghi coffee machine will provide you with that delicious coffee to complement your morning croissant.
The large kitchen table seats 8 and is just one of 4 dining tables to choose from, the remaining 3 are outside, the closest of which is on the gallery terrace.
Maison Montruf has two sitting rooms, the upper lounge is next to the kitchen. Featuring red leather chesterfield sofas, UK smart TV with Netflix and DVD player and wireless Sonos system (there are 5 Sonos speakers in the house). The downstairs salon is a wonderfully cool room with French doors to the garden. It has two large sofas, bookcase, TV monitor, DVD player, DVD and book library, and games console. There is also a desk in case you can't quite escape those business emails or video calls (there are 5 wireless access points in the house to guarantee Wi-Fi coverage despite the thick walls). You enter the lounge from the games room which has a large pool table.
Maison Montruf has 4 bedrooms.
Bedroom 1 is the master suite and is located on the ground floor. Originally the kitchen of one of the houses, it has a large fireplace and an old stone sink, as well as a painted arched window. A super king-size bed, separate dressing room and ensuite with walk-in shower and roll-top bath complete the master suite.
Bedroom 2 and 3 are on the 1st floor and both have beamed ceilings with chandeliers and en-suite shower rooms. Bedroom 2 has twin beds and bedroom 3 has a king size bed. There is also an additional family shower on this floor.
Bedroom 4 is also on the ground floor. It has a large fireplace and a private entrance to the lower garden. This bedroom also has a large ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower.
The pigeonnier is located just off the kitchen and contains the wardrobe, toilet and a ladder that gives access to a small balcony where you have a beautiful view over the valley and the garden. Here you can sit with 2 people and enjoy reading a book or the sunset.
Outside
Outside there is a large heated private salt water swimming pool of 12 x 5 meters with a safety cover and a sun terrace with views over the Vézère valley. The terrace with retractable awning is located off the kitchen and overlooks the pool and garden. It is a great place to have lunch or breakfast. The other dining tables are in the garden, one terrace is covered in the open barn and the other on the lawn near the ruin. The utility room, with direct access to the pool, houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and above all a wine cooler / drinks fridge, because after all you are on vacation. The 1 hectare garden is fully secured (to keep out the wildlife). The pool has plenty of sun loungers, chairs and umbrellas, making it an ideal place to spend the day.
As Maison Montruf is located on a west-facing hill, the garden has some fantastic views. It is also a haven for birds and insects, some birds nest in the walls of the house and barn, others in the trees in the undergrowth and numerous insects feed on the lavender plants that grow so well here in France. If you are lucky you will hear a Golden Oriel, you will certainly hear the Nuthatches and Woodpeckers that live locally. You can also see small lizards basking on the walls in the garden. The site also contains ruins of the original village. The classroom of the old school building is an ideal place for the table tennis table.
Important:
Your hosts Paul & Charlotte live on site in an on-site lodge with their two Flat Coated Retrievers. They are on hand if needed, can answer all your questions and provide concierge services if needed.
