The characteristic city of Brantôme is 20 kilometers away, this city is also called the 'Venice of the Périgord'. On an island in the middle of the hilly landscape of the Perigord Vert and surrounded by the Dronne river. Brantôme is a busy place due to its location and the more than 1200 year old Benedictine monastery. In addition to the monastery, the St. Roch tower, Jardin des Moines, Notre Dame church and the famous Friday morning market are worth visiting. Brantôme is also the entrance to the 'Périgord-Limousin' nature park, where lovers of flora and fauna can indulge themselves.

The Perigord Vert is a beautiful region and is known for its tranquility, nature and water. The region is characterized by forests with lakes and rivers, with small villages here and there and is significantly less touristy than the rest of the Dordogne. Perigueux is the main city of the region and has much to offer in the way of refined shopping and good food in its winding streets, to suit all tastes and wallets. A car is necessary because Maison Roufiat is located in the countryside.

Beautiful Farmhouse Tranquil with Amazing Panoramic Views
By Lorraine Urwin on 24-Jun-2023
Our family of 4 adults and one 2 year old boy, had a wonderful couple of weeks in this beautiful Farmhouse Roufiat relaxing in the glorious peace and tranquility. With panoramic views over rolling countryside. The weather was mixed but warm, so we spent some time relaxing by the pool. Our 2 year old loved swimming, walking in the gardens, the butterflies ???? in the Garden and the chickens who liked to visit. We walked locally to the village and Bakery and met a deer ???? in the fields and a family off beavers in the stream. As well as having wonderful pastries from the bakery. The owners left so many wonderful places to visit. Thanks so much for all the suggestions of places to visit. The location is perfect for exploring the area. We went to Markets, Villages , caves, Bergerac, and we made the most of exploring the local area. We traveled to amazing places, walked locally, relaxed, swam in the pool with panoramic views of the beautiful countryside , watched the sunset and sunrise, enjoyed evenings in the garden having BBQ’s . Roufiat is a perfect location set in beautiful gardens a truly unique Farmhouse which has been lovingly restored and is comfortable with everything you need. Thank you so much Dammermann Family , our family have made such wonderful memories

Beautiful place
By Nicky on 10-Jul-2022
Really rustic farmhouse with a lovely family feel to it. We loved this place and it’s amazing views across the French countryside. Wonderfully peaceful. The pool is nice and we spent most of our time relaxing around it. I would recommend that you have a car as there aren’t very many places within walking distance when it’s very hot! The owners sent over lots of suggestions for things to do from good restaurants to great places to swim in the river locally which was very helpful. We will definitely be back!

Just Perfect
By Laura Macgowan on 12-Jul-2020
We have fallen in love with your place, it is just perfect. We have spent most of the time just enjoying the garden and pool with the stunning views. The children have managed not to break anything for once, but I have broken two wine glasses, sorry. Anyway thanks so much and we would definitely like to come back again some time.

“Idyllic Dordogne farmhouse”
By on 19-Aug-2017
If you are looking for a stress free holiday in the beautiful Dordogne region, this property is perfect. We particularly loved that the house is set in totally private well managed grounds with a large swimming pool and plenty of sun loungers overlooking fields of sunflowers and grazing cows. It was very spacious for our family of three and two small dogs and had everything we needed - good sized lounge with wood burning stove/UK TV/DVD player/music system/wifi; kitchen/diner with dishwasher and two fridge/freezers; stairs from the lounge to a double bedroom and bathroom with a lovely shower for us and a further set of stairs to another bedroom in the roof space with two single beds, a double bed and an ensuite shower room, ideal for our Daughter. Near to the pool, some outbuildings house a table-tennis, a utility room (washing machine/iron and board) with a toilet and shower which was perfect when we were using the pool, plus two further rooms with beds which we didn't need but older children might love for that extra bit of holiday independence. We spent lots of time relaxing by the pool and evenings on the terrace eating bbq. When we managed to drag ourselves away, we cycled to the local river and hired a canoe and visited some of the nearby towns. The owners had thought of everything and were easily contactable to answer any questions we had. A special thank you to Peter who really made our holiday this year. We'd definitely rent this idyllic property again.

“Incredibly beautiful setting with spacious grounds, great views”

'Roufiat' is set in an idyllic spot - on a hillside with views over a beautiful French valley (often filled with sunflowers, or grazing horses and cattle). It has a lot of outdoor space for children to run around (our son took his first steps here!), and the pool is a real treat during the hot French summers! We spent many days relaxing around the pool, having BBQ dinners and walking to the local village (about 15 min walk away) for bread and ice creams! When we did venture out further, we went canoeing (great fun!), to local markets (great one in nearby Riberac on Friday mornings!), wine tasting in Bergerac, horse riding in Tocane and generally just to visit and walk around historic Dordogne villages.
One day we ventured out to Lascaux Caves (about 45min drive) which was fun.
Bikes are provided, which could do with a bit of maintenance, but we pumped up the tyres and took them out one afternoon to the local river where we swam in the clear river water - bliss!
The accommodation is basic but comfortable - what you'd expect in an old French farmhouse! My brother and his girlfriend stayed in the chalet rooms which are set apart from the house with their own bathroom facilities. They are basic, but stay nice and cool and it was nice for them to have some privacy.
The kitchen is well equipped, and it was a treat to have a dishwasher in a holiday home!
The lounge could do with some updated furniture, but we spent so little time indoors this really didn't matter. Even in the evenings, we'd sit outside and look at the milky way - we even saw fireflies and some shooting stars! What a treat!
We would definitely recommend this to groups of people looking for a week away or families who are OK with more basic accommodation. It would even be a nice place for a couple to go for a week away from the hustle of everyday life. We will definitely be going back.
