Outside
A lovely spot at Vue du Martel is the heated pool and the terrace with a built-in barbecue. Vue du Martel is located on a large site (0.5 hectares), with forest and garden. The private pool has a Roman corner staircase. You can spent your time at the pool and on the terrace, although the rest of the grounds deserve an exploration as well. The garden is half a hectare and is largely left 'au naturel'. To one side of the house is a rural footpath which takes you past fields and meadows to the village of Baladou. It is one of the many walks that can be done in this area, as well as other sporting activities such as canoeing on the Dordogne River (5km) and horse riding.
Martel is located in the Dordogne valley of the Lot. It is a lovely place with restaurants, cafes and shops, with narrow streets leading to the main square where a beautiful covered market place takes center stage. Surrounded by rolling countryside through which the Dordogne River flows, Martel will undoubtedly appeal to many. Many famous sites are within easy driving distance, including the spectacular village of Rocamadour (21km), the fascinating caves of Padirac (28km) and the renowned Dordogne town of Sarlat-la-Canéda (an hour's drive). Closer to home, a ride on the steam train that runs along the cliffs between Martel and St Denis will delight children and we're sure everyone will enjoy the summer evenings in Martel.
