Atypical house full of charm with a beautiful view, very pleasant swimming pool and available hosts, we had an excellent stay in one of the most beautiful regions of France! Very clean, functional, the presence of the cliff in the house gives an incredible character. Domme is 2 minutes on foot, Cénac 5 minutes, Sarlat 12 minutes by car, all shops and activities are nearby. I highly recommend this house and the authenticity that emanates from it!

Cozy home in a gorgeous setting. Walkable to everything you need and a short drive to many many other amazing things. We absolutely loved it. The host was beyond helpful and was always quick to respond to our questions. Our stay was so wonderful, we miss it already.

Loved Every Minute
It's always a bit of a gamble when you book a holiday on the internet but we struck gold when we booked La Falaise in Domme.
The property is as advertised and had everything a family wants for a vacation. It's a beautiful old and quaint building with a great pool area, the kids loved it. The views across the valley from the house were stunning. All the modern conveniences you would need on a holiday were in the house. It was a nice touch having a cupboard full of DVD’s for the days when the weather wasn’t so good and the kids needed something to do.
The village of Domme is just a short walk up the hill from the house with more shops and restaurants than I was expecting. I seem to remember that in the advert Domme was described as one of the prettiest villages in France, this is certainly true. The views of the Dordogne River are breathtaking from the ramparts of the medieval town. The surrounding villages and towns are equally stunning, Sarlat-la-Caneda is a must-see town thronged with fantastic restaurants and bars. We did a Kayak trip from Vitrac to Beynac which was brilliant, it took about four hours which included stopping for lunch along the way in La Roque-Gageac, the perfect way to see the area.
I couldn't recommend this holiday more to anyone, it was a great house in a great location. Thank you Andrea for all the helpful information provided and thank you for a great holiday. We'll be back.
Kind regards
Rory

For us the best rental we have stayed in.
For us the standard of finish is excellent, the owners have really made an effort to make this house a home for the time you spend there, personal touches from the welcome pack, WiFi, shops, quality towels, furniture and love the arches downstairs. We stayed once in Cliff side house and it suffered from damp, not this house I don’t know how they have done it but they have it doesn’t feel damp just cosy. The location you can walk up to Domme which means you will have earnt you lunch. To tour the area excellent location. No issues, no complaints only a recommendation.

Beautiful location
A wonderful little find. Off the beaten track but within easy walking distance of Domme. The house itself is quite spacious and has good facilities; the only small improvements would have been the addition of air conditioning in the bedrooms (not necessary downstairs as this keeps lovely and cool), and also the showers leak slightly and need mopping after use. That said, the library is great, bbq and outside area superb, the pool is in a great location and has good number of sunbeds. I was concerned before going that there wouldn't be space for sunbathing as no photo showed this area but in fact it has a gem of a sunbathing terrace with wonderful views and both shady and sunny spots. With regard to Domme itself; it is brilliantly placed for visiting all the key attractions of the Dordogne. The only slight disappointment is the quality and variety of restaurants in the town, but the views made up for this. The hosts were attentive and good fun. Would recommend this to anyone (in our case we were a family of two adults and three older children).

Wonderful stay in The Dordogne
We have just returned from two wonderful weeks staying at La Falaise in the village of Domme in the Dordogne. The cottage is built into the rock which means it is very cool and a welcome relief after the day spent by the private pool in the summer sun. It is very well equipped with everything you could need for a relaxing stay. The beds are extremely comfortable with excellent quality linen. The house is spotless throughout and the comfort of the guests has been very carefully considered. The generous welcome pack gets you off to a great start. There is a barbecue for outside cooking but also an oven and five ring hob should you wish to cook indoors.
The kind hosts, who live just up the lane, have a wealth of local knowledge and are happy to offer advice for trips out to local markets and sites but equally happy to leave you to your own plans.
The village of Domme is in a great location for exploring and a canoe trip down the Dordogne is an essential for our family.
We have rented cottages throughout France over the last 25 years and without doubt this has been our favourite.

Lovely Dordogne hillside country cottage
We arrived at La Falaise very tired following a 2 day drive from the UK and on arrival we were not disappointed at all!
The cottage is immaculate and contains all of the mod cons you could need whilst retaining the traditional style and character of a French country gite. It is nicely secluded within the cliffside trees but still offers stunning South facing panoramic views of the Dordogne fields and hills from its pool garden.
The pool and garden area are very clean and with enough chairs, table, sunbeds etc. for all the family (there were 5 of us) and is a great a place to relax and and enjoys the views. The pool is alarmed (loud alarm), however, is not visible from the cottage itself so we did not let our children go in the pool on their own.
In the local area there are plenty of attractions. We enjoyed kayaking down the river from nearby Cenac, horse riding, hiring bikes from the nearby Bikebus at Castelnaud (great service from Joel and Pierre) and exploring the local area. There are plenty of prehistoric caves which are worth a visit also.
Domme itself is a 10 minute walk up the hill and there are plenty of local restaurants with a couple of other options thrown in (pizza and Thai). We ate out in Domme most nights during our 2 week stay except for a couple of times when we just fancied staying at the cottage and having a BBQ.
Overall, we found La Falaise a great holiday base to explore the region or just relax by the pool and do nothing. During the Summer, the owner (Andrea) lives a short distance down the same small private road and was readily available if we required anything during our stay, not that we did.
Thanks again Andrea for your generous hospitality and for making us so welcome and feel settled so quickly at La Falaise.
